About Me

My academic path began in 2011, when I double-majored in English Literature & Language and Theatre Performance & Directing at Winthrop University (BA, 2015). I fell in love with the power of storytelling and the nuances of language—how words shape character, voice, and the world around us. That foundation led me to pursue an MAT in English (2016), equipping me to teach and mentor others, and later an MA in English Literature & Language (2022), where I focused on literature and creative writing.

Currently, I’m a PhD student in English at UNC Greensboro, specializing in feminist rhetoric and 19th-century American literature. I also hold a Certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies. My research explores how language reflects and reshapes cultural narratives about gender, identity, and power—especially during moments of social and rhetorical transformation.

I bring over a decade of classroom experience to my academic work, including seven years teaching high school English and three years teaching at the college level. That background grounds my commitment to inclusive, student-centered education and informs my interest in dismantling the barriers—seen and unseen—that shape how we learn.

Whether I’m writing, teaching, or collaborating, I return to the same guiding question: how do we tell the truth beautifully, ethically, and with care?

The Fun Stuff

Because I contain multitudes—and I like a little self-reflection.

If you’re into personality theory, here’s a snapshot of how I tend to test across a few frameworks. These aren’t comprehensive (or scientific), but I find them useful for thinking through values, motivation, and the kinds of spaces where I thrive. If that’s your thing too, feel free to read on.

Myers-Briggs: INFJ – The Advocate

Often described as thoughtful, idealistic, and purpose-driven. I tend to move through the world with a strong sense of integrity and care, preferring meaningful conversations over small talk. My work is rooted in the belief that language matters—and that it can be used to imagine better futures.

Keirsey Temperament: Idealist / Counselor

Drawn to personal growth, big-picture questions, and the wellbeing of others. I value authenticity, reflection, and the kind of collaborative work that fosters empathy and transformation. Harmony matters to me—not in the sense of avoiding challenge, but in making space for honest, respectful dialogue.

Enneagram: Type 4w5 – The Bohemian

Motivated by creativity, authenticity, and a desire to understand the deeper currents of experience. I value emotional clarity and tend to approach both scholarship and relationships with intensity and care. This type is often associated with individuality, curiosity, and a deep connection to meaning-making.

Zodiac:

  • Sun: Pisces – imaginative, intuitive, reflective

  • Moon: Leo – expressive, warm, drawn to joy and recognition

  • Rising: Libra – relational, aesthetic, oriented toward balance

True Color: Blue

Blue types are typically compassionate, calm under pressure, and driven by relationships. This feels pretty true to how I approach teaching and collaborative work—steady, supportive, and attuned to others.
